FED: Snowboard rescue efforts boosted amid weather fears

Rescue workers will step up their search in the Australian alps today for four missing
snowboarders lost near Mt Kosciuszko.

Extra police from Victoria and specially-trained dogs are being brought in for the search
through rugged bushland.

The four men, from Frenchs Forest in Sydney, spent a third unplanned night in freezing
conditions last night after a search yesterday failed to find any sign of them.

Police say the men, all aged in their 20s, faced temperatures as low as minus 15 -- taking
into account the wind factor.

About 20 rescue workers, including personnel from police, fire brigade, ambulance and
National Parks and Wildlife services, will continue today's search.
