One if by land, two if by sea, three if by ... both?
Cars might be plunging into waters around southeast Michigan soon, as Gibbs Technologies Ltd. tests the 10 preproduction amphibious cars it has brought to the United States.
Last week the United Kingdom company said it formed , which is expected to be available in North America by 2009. The vehicle, which can travel more than 110 mph on land and 33 mph on water, will be priced at about $85,000.
"We're not launching a car today; we're launching an industry,'' Gibbs Technologies Chairman Alan Gibbs said at a press event in suburban Detroit.
