Qld: Six teenagers stabbed at party

By Chris Herde

BRISBANE, April 2 AAP - Six teenagers have been stabbed at an 18th birthday party in
Brisbane's north in fights with gatecrashers.

Two 16-year-old boys are in hospital, one in a serious condition and the other stable,
following the clash which took place overnight.

Police said they were called to a house in Sheena Street, Geebung, around 1.10am (AEST)
following reports of a disturbance.

The offenders fled as police arrived and attended the victims.

Dozens of gatecrashers, some armed with knives, were reported to have invaded the party
around midnight, swelling numbers from 40 to well over 100.

Police said they believe the gatecrashers involved in the fight were from a gang based
in the northern suburbs.

"The party was closed down by the family and all the partygoers left the address and
a number of fights then ensued after that," Detective Inspector Peter Duncan said.

It is believed the gatecrashers were alerted to the party by text messages and mobile
phone calls.

One partygoer, who used only his first name Nathan, described it as "very, very, very
terrifying".

"All my mates came running out of the house, saying all these people are getting stabbed
inside," he told Channel Ten News.

A 16-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl taken to Royal Brisbane Hospital were later released.

Another 16-year-old boy was treated at the scene by ambulance officers for a small
stab wound and a 17-year-old girl later reported she had suffered superficial wounds.

None of the injuries were considered life threatening.

A 20-year-old man is helping police with their inquiries.
