Qld: Men charged after driving car into pool

BRISBANE, Feb 2 AAP - Two men have been charged after a car was driven into a backyard
swimming pool following a police chase.

The incident occurred shortly after 2am (AEST) today at Springwood, south of Brisbane.

A police spokeswoman said officers attempted to intercept the vehicle at Denis Road
over a number of traffic offences but the occupants allegedly refused to stop.

A short chase followed before the men jumped out of the moving car at Plateau Road,
leaving the vehicle to roll down an embankment and into a swimming pool.

One of the men was allegedly injured after attempting to jump a fence which had been
struck by the car.

Two men are due to face Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.

A 21-year-old man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and
unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

A 19-year-old man has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
